ExplainedA solid ordinary explanation fits the evidence.

The claim
"Cone-shaped skulls are alien or alien-human hybrids."
Where the idea comes from
Skulls from the Paracas culture, displayed in a private museum, became a staple of alien documentaries.
What the evidence shows
- Binding infants' heads with cloth and boards to reshape the skull was practised in many cultures, from the Andes to Europe, Africa and Asia.
- Shaped skulls keep the same brain volume and the same bones as any human skull, just redistributed.
- Claims of "non-human DNA" came from tests promoted by enthusiasts and were never published in a peer-reviewed journal. Contamination is common in such samples.
What is still open
Nothing material; artificial cranial deformation is well documented.
Our verdict
Explained A widespread human custom, with human bones.
