ExplainedA solid ordinary explanation fits the evidence.

The claim
"A small object skims the ocean at incredible speed."
Where the idea comes from
One of the three Navy videos published in 2017 and officially released in 2020.
What the evidence shows
- The screen shows the camera's angle and the laser range to the object. With basic trigonometry, analysts and NASA's independent UAP study team (2023) found it was about 13,000 feet up, far above the water.
- At that height its true speed comes out at roughly 30 to 40 mph, consistent with something drifting with the wind, like a balloon.
- The apparent speed comes from parallax: the jet is moving fast and the camera is looking down at the ocean far below the object.
What is still open
What the object was is unknown, but nothing about it requires unusual performance.
Our verdict
Explained Geometry: a slow object high up, seen from a fast jet.
